Code of Conduct for SJJFNZ Sanctioned Jiu Jitsu Tournaments

The Sport Jiu Jitsu Federation of New Zealand (SJJFNZ) is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved in our sanctioned tournaments. All spectators attending SJJFNZ events, including but not limited to electronic communications, are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

1. Respect

Show respect and courtesy towards all staff, competitors, officials, and fellow spectators at all times. Appreciate the efforts and dedication of everyone involved in the event.

2. Sportsmanship

Encourage and support all competitors in a positive and sportsmanlike manner, regardless of their affiliation, skill level, or performance.

3. Non-aggression

Refrain from any aggressive, abusive, or confrontational behavior, including verbal or physical altercations. Maintain a calm and composed demeanor throughout the event.

4. Compliance

Follow all rules, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the event organizers and venue staff, including any restrictions on photography, videography, or other activities.

5. Safety

We prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants and spectators by avoiding actions that may pose a risk to others or disrupt the event.

6. Videography and Photography Policy

Any videography or photography taken at SJJFNZ events that is used to criticise referees, athletes, or other participants, whether children or adults is strictly unauthorised. If such content is posted and brought to the attention of SJJFNZ, the athlete involved may be stood down from competing for the remainder of the tournament season, and their academy owner will be notified.

Any outlet or parent or individual that is filming and posting criticism about athletes that are adult or children, additionally a referee can be banned from the tournament for the season. Additionally, no unauthorised filming or posting of referees or other children is permitted. Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from future events.

SJJFNZ reserves the right to take appropriate action, including removal from the event or further sanctions, against any spectator found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct. By promoting a high level of respect and a positive atmosphere, we can ensure the continued growth and enjoyment of Jiu Jitsu in New Zealand.
