Bracketing - how does it work?

Below is what we take into consideration when bracketing the adults and youth. 

If you don't understand how you or your child have been bracketed you need to read this section, if you still don't understand you need to take your concern to your coach. 

Your coach will contact NZG staff if they still have an issue with the bracketing.

KIDS 

We take a few things into consideration when bracketing your children, in this order of priority:

•Age - we try to keep ages 1-2 years maximum difference for the younger kids, 2 years maximum difference for the older kids (this is based on the year they were born, not actual age i.e. kids born in 2013 will be matched with kids born in 2012, 2013, 2014)

•Weight - we try to keep the weight 1-4kg max for younger kids, 1-6kg max for older kids

DON'T WORRY if you see that your child has been moved up a division, regardless of the division title, their weight will always be within the safe range and the age difference will always be within the safe range.

•Gender - we try keep genders seperate with the older kids, but younger we will mix

•Belt - this is one of the last things we look at, as there is no national standardised belt system yet. You can have a 7 year old grey belt from one gym, and a 13 year old grey belt at another!?

DON'T WORRY if you see your child is merged with kids with other belt colours, they are matched by age, weight and gender as a first priority.

ADULTS 

• If you have registered for Masters and there was no one in your division, you will be merged with the mainstream pool.

• If you have registered for the Juvenile division and there is no one in your division we will look at Kid 6 to move up or merge with the adult pool

By entering the tournament you agree to the bracketing criteria, therefore if you choose to withdraw from the tournament you will not get a refund.
